Name: Matt Bader

About: Matt Bader grew up in Portland, Oregon where he developed a passion for hockey at a young age. After graduating from high school he played two seasons for the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Matt accepted a Division I hockey scholarship to the United States Air Force Academy where he played four seasons, serving as captain in his final two seasons. Matt graduated with a business management degree and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. Matt specialized in contract management for the Air Force and worked critical logistics and supply chain projects throughout his career while stationed in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, Boston, Massachussetts, and Baghdad, Iraq. Matt separated from the Air Force and moved back to Portland, Oregon with his lovely wife Heidi where he currently works as a management consultant for The Gunter Group.
Matt is the Founder and President of Checking For Charity Corporation. Matt developed the initial concept and rallied a passionate team of professionals around the idea, eventually bringing the idea to fruitiion in 2009. As President he focuses on staying true to the company's mission while leading strategic initiatives to grow the organization.

Name: Chris Mattie
Position: Vice President

About: Chris Mattie is the son of a World War II Veteran. He was born in Argentina. Chris grew up in Wilmington Delaware, where he began playing street hockey in the early 1970's. Chris played 4 years of Ice Hockey at the University of Delaware from 1977-1981. Upon graduation, Chris was Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his 20 year service, Chris amassed over 5000 hours of flight time in various airplanes from the Harrier Jump Jet, and the CH-46 Helicopter. Chris was the Air Wing Five Flight Instructor of the Year in 1989. Chris Retired from the Marines as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2001 and moved to Mount Laurel NJ. He was hired by American Airlines, flying the MD-80 based in LaGuardia NY. Post 9-11 Chris was furloughed from American and got a start in Corporate Aviation flying the Falcon 2000 for MBNA Bank in Wilmington Delaware. During this period, Chris was the personal pilot for the Chairmen of the Cleveland Browns. Currently he flies for Spectacor Aviation in Philadelphia for the Chairmen of the Philadelphia Flyers. Chris is married to Nina Carlino of Ventnor NJ. They have 2 beautiful girls, Carli and Jackie, both of whom are in College.
Chris is a Vice President and one of the founding members of Checking For Charity. Affectionately known as "The Godfather" of the group, Chris specializes in mobilizing the team and external partners to carry out the strategic objectives of organization.

Mitch is a Vice President and became heavily involved with Checking For Charity shortly after the inaugural tournament. Mitch lives and breathes hockey and brings his tremendous knowledge of the business of hockey to the organization.
Name: Tom Garvey

Tom is the CIO and one of the founding members of Checking For Charity. He has managed Digital Marketing campaigns for the NHL, NFL, MLB, Kraft, Hanes, and dozens of other high profile clients. Tom is an integral part of Checking For Charity leadership and he manages all of the information flow within the organization. His responsibilities span everything from organizing strategy meetings, to website design, to integrating marketing into the Checking For Charity communication strategy.
Name: Phil Corradino
Position: Chief Financial Officer

About: Phil was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Northern/Central New Jersey. Phil attended Immaculata High School in Somerville, NJ and later Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. An initial Music Education major, Phil later found his professional calling in finance and banking and has been in that field ever since. A lifelong hockey enthusiast, Phil learned how to ice skate during high school and played briefly for Rutgers University in college. After getting married Phil moved to a different country also known as "South" Jersey and resides in Delran with wife Mary and their two amazing children, Anna and John. He currently works for Beneficial Bank out of Philadelphia and still "suits up" and skates on a regular basis.
Phil is the CFO and one of the founding members of Checking For Charity. Phil has brought his financial acumen to the organization and has completely shaped the financial infrastructure of CFC. Phil not only ensures that every dollar coming in and going out of Checking For Charity is accounted for, but he also provides incredible clarity into the financial impacts of strategy decisions.
EAST COAST OFFICERS
Name: Marisa Malts
Position: Director of Marketing
Marisa is the Director of Marketing and joined Checking For Charity after the inaugural tournament. Marisa's marketing expertise has taken each subsequent tournament to new heights. She has helped get the word out about CFC while cultivating new relationships and partnerships. She also spearheads the extremely popular Beef & Beer Events.

About: Ed Gorleski is a native New Jersyan and has been playing hockey for as long as he could walk. Ed is also an avid fisherman and surfer and, to that extent, obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Oceanography from Stockton College. Since graduating, Ed has worked as a Coastal Engineer. Understanding the importance of a good education and strong scholastic foundations, Ed is continuing his education, pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Drexel University. After graduating, Ed hopes to combine his love of the ocean with his passion for architecture and charity, to provide safe and affordable housing for developing and disaster ridden nations of the Caribbean.
Ed is the Director of Charitable and Volunteer Relations and is a founding member of Checking For Charity. Ed not only has been a key contributor to our cause since day one, but he has also allowed our tournament to expand due to his volunteer coordination efforts. Ed also heads up all interaction with our represented charities which has made our tournaments more personal and has enabled us to partner with other non profit organizations.

Name: Phil Passarelli
Position: Director of Hockey Operations

About: Phil Is a native of New Jersey and has been playing hockey since he was three years old. He also grew up playing football, hockey and golf for Bishop Eustace Prep as well as Lacrosse at Neuman University. He went to Rutgers University where he played for 3 years while seeking a degree in criminal justice. After that he went to play in a few games in the NEHL before returning to his roots to coach youth hockey with the Jaguars and Jr. Phantoms. He also went back to his alma mater Bishop Eustace where he tries to help out as much as possible. He has been a part of the New Jersey hockey community ever since. Even in his professional career he was around hockey as the Retail manager for the Flyers Skate Zone Pennsauken before moving to GlaxoSmithKline. He currently works for Sonic Innovations out of Somerset, New Jersey. He currently resides with his wife Sara in Mount Laurel where he skates with a select group of guys on a regular basis. Phil is the Director of Hockey Operations and became heavily involved with Checking For Charity after the inaugural tournament. Phil is the man behind the tournament logistics. Phil has oversight and management over the tournament structure, scheduling, and team engagement. He has been crucial in the expansion of the number of teams that are participating in our tournaments.

Joe is our legal representation and one of the founding members of Checking For Charity. Joe helped build the business structure of the organization and he ensures that we are operating in a manner that aligns with our ethos. Name: Rhiannon Volpe

About: Rhiannon is from Voorhees, NJ. She has a BA in Communications and is completing a Master's in Sports Administration this spring at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is a Marketing & Operations Intern with the Philadelphia Revolution (tier III junior A and B, EJHL, Empire, and ESHL hockey teams) since July 2012 and has volunteered as a Team Manager with Rutgers Camden DIII hockey (DVCHC, ACHA) since September 2012. Most recently she signed on as a Development Intern with Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation since January 2013. She has been a volunteer with CFC since 2009 and has a wealth of knowledge about CFC and how to grow it's corporate partnerships.

About: I was born in Southern California, but have lived most of my life in Portland, Oregon. I run a commercial development and construction company working throughout the Northwest and am involved in various civic organizations around the Portalnd Metro area. I enjoy my family and friends, but most of all my wife and two young kids. Hockey has been a great passion of mine for the last 20 years and I love being involved within the sport. I have played, coached, and officiated at many levels but nothing is more rewarding then being apart of Checking for Charity and giving back to the community through hockey!
